Be wary of anyone calling and offering support from most commonly Telstra or Microsoft. They will generally get you to navigate to the ‘Event Viewer’, and under Windows Logs, then System, will point out the warning and error symbols. These are normal windows operating issues, and nothing to do with whatever they are trying to scam you with. Hang up on them.
More recently, and due to the NBN rollout, some customers have had supposed support calls from NBNCo, claiming to need remote access to their computer or laptop to aid in the connection. Be wary and ask them some questions to determine if they really are from NBNCo. In reality, the NBNCo doesn’t need to access your computer to get internet to your premises.
